Seth Posted December 4, 2007 Hi CLL You must have some new variants, as I've used SAS to remove all of those infections. Hang tight. SuperAntiSpy will likely get you to send a diagnostic report.
Seth Posted December 4, 2007 In the mean time. Run a full scan from Safe Mode. To access Safe Mode, keep tapping the F8 key as soon as you turn on your computer. This will bring you to a boot menu where you can use the arrow keys to choose Safe Mode.
CLL Posted December 4, 2007 Thanks Seth. I already ran in safe mode. Nothing found. But, I can run again. I've also tried changing msconfig...doing selective startup selecting each process and restarting. It starts each time no matter what is selected/unselected. Hanzo Posted December 4, 2007 Hi CLL. I noticed from your posted log that your SAS Definitions are away outdated (Database Version 3259 released 06-20-2007). Try to update SAS with the latest definitions (3354 released 12-03-2007) and scan again, maybe this will help.
Pandato Posted December 4, 2007 Yes as observed definitions are out of date, update them and scan again. If unsuccessful, submit a CSR to customer support.
SUPERAntiSpy Posted December 4, 2007 You can manually update definitions here: https://www.superantispyware.com/definitions.html If you need to submit a support ticket AFTER you have updated definitinos and scanned, do so here: https://www.superantispyware.com/support.html
CLL Posted December 4, 2007 Just an FYI. When I downloaded SAS on Sat or Sun (can't remember what day), these are the definitions that downloaded. I have automatic updates turned on. Checked for updates, it tells me my definitions are up to date. Checked again...still tells me they are up to date. I manually downloaded as you suggested. Obviously they are not up to date. I'll scan again. Let everyone know what happens. Thanks for all your help. It is greatly appreciated.
Pandato Posted December 4, 2007 Check that your firewall is allowing the update.
CLL Posted December 4, 2007 Downloading the current definitions files worked. Took 7 plus hours of scanning, but I believe everything was cleaned. As to my firewall setting, it is set to allow the updates, so I don't know what was/is going on there. Thanks for all your help! I wasn't looking forward to reformating and reloading everything. Seth Posted December 4, 2007 My apologies CLL. I read through your posts too quickly and missed your definition file version.
CLL Posted December 4, 2007 No problem Seth. No need to apologize. I was sitting right here looking at it and didn't notice. Thanks for your help. Have a great week!
