Slow removing items

Recommended Posts

I am running the free edition for SAS. The date on the .exe is Oct 4, 2020. Ever since this build came out it gets slower while removing items. Today I had 741 cookies ant SAS has been running over an hour and the progress bar is at about 25%.

Any suggestions?

I have found looking at the scan log that many of the folders that Superantispyware says it is deleting items from, no longer exist.  this is especially true for google\chrome folders with ...\APPDATA\LOCAL\GOOGLE\CHROME\USER DATA\DEFAULT\COOKIES as one of the sub folders.  If I look at the path COOKIES is no longer there??? Not sure why they find items in folders that no longer exist.  When it tries to delete these files it takes the program a long time since it is trying to find non-existent items.  At the very least it should find the first item and see that it is in a non-existant folder and from that point on if another item is pointed to that folder just recognize it is deleted and go on.  But it seems to try each and every item taking a long time to try and delete it.

I run a scan everyday at 2:30pm. It always finds a few hundred items. Today is 395. It's been taking a couple hours for the removal part to finish. I've been using this software for years. I used to only run it every couple of months or so and it took about 1/2 hour from start of scan to finish of removal. I can't figure out why there are so many items running daily and why on Earth it takes so very long to finish the removal. Any suggestions would be grateful. I'm running on a Dell laptop that is 4 months old.
