Upton Posted October 10, 2007 Hi, I just installed the free version, ran a scan, and have been impressed. One question, since I'm just using it as a scanner, wouldn't it be better not to run the program at startup? If I don't, what changes will I notice? Thanks. You don't have to run it at startup, you can run it on-demand as needed.
Alan D Posted October 11, 2007 You don't have to run it at startup, you can run it on-demand as needed. There was a discussion about this some weeks ago, in which the point was made that it's more secure to have SAS already loaded in memory, ahead of any malware, than to have to start it up from zero in order to do a scan. If that's the case, disabling the startup would imply some loss of security (albeit perhaps small). Is that correct, Nick?
Guest Posted October 13, 2007 Another point I'd make is that even in the standalone scanner it appears to auto update therefore saving those who would forget from doing this before scanning, it's why I'm trying to get it to start but am having issues.
