SAS won't start

Recommended Posts

This is a topic visited several times in the past by others but none of the solutions has worked for me.

For over a year now, SAS will not start when I try to run to open it on my Win 7 machine.  It shows up in Processes in the Task Manager but nothing happens.  Last evening I started it and left it overnight.  All I had this morning was my normal windows screen with the hard drive grinding away and high CPU usage.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled it with new update during the last year.  Maybe its my install method because I only choose to install it on my desktop and not in my start folder or taskbar.

Any advice would be appreciated as I do like the program and it did work on this machine in the past.

Have you tried double-clicking the desktop shortcut?

Of course.  Like I said, nothing happens.  When I look at Task Manager, SAS shows up in processes but never opens.

NCPitt,

Please uninstall using our assistant, it's in the section titled Alternate Uninstall Method, at this link:
https://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=47

After using the uninstaller assistant, it doesn't hurt to run a free app like CCleaner to clean up any leftovers.

Lastly, install again using this link:

NCPitt,

I should mention, using the uninstaller assistant is a little different than uninstall using Control Panel.  I had the same issue where the  shortcut wouldn't launch the interface, but showed up in running processes; and the steps above are how I fixed it.

Well.  This didn't work for  me either.  I've given up.  It's too bad because I really like the product and continue to use it on my other machine.

I'd try the latest pre-release build, available here:

https://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/topic/7758-superantispyware-60-pre-release-download/?p=31822

We've done a bunch of work on 6.0 to optimize startup speed, it could resolve your issue.  This version of the pre-release is basically the version that's going to go up on the update servers in a few weeks.
