Weird rootkit detection, false?

Recommended Posts

When I scanned with my SAS free, it came up with 16 adwares. Then I started the quarantine and removal process and after it was done, it said that serious rootkit was detected, and that I need to reboot. I pressed cancel, but it popped up again. It popped up with the rootkit thing 16 times, as many as there were adwares.

I've scanned my computer with several other programs after that, including once that are made especially to tract down rootkits, and everything comes up empty.

Also, SAS didn't say that it found anything in the actual scan but adware, so I'm thinking it's false alarm and that ASA actually thought all the adwares were rootkits.

What up with the program? This happened after I updated to 5.5.1016
