Does reporting a False Positive remove it from scans?

Recommended Posts

Just like the Topic says: Does reporting a False Positive remove it from scans?

I have been getting Critical Threats found on my PC ever since I stopped using (uninstalled) Google Chrome. But these "threats" have nothing to do with Chrome, so I am not sure if that was just coincidence.

I don't want to report them and then everytime I scan, it bypasses them because I am not 100% sure they are benign. Here are the current ones on the recent scan:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\NVSTLINK.EXE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\NVSTLINK.EXE\Debugger

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\NVSTVIEW.EXE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\NVSTVIEW.EXE\Debugger

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\REGISTRYBOOSTER.EXE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\REGISTRYBOOSTER.EXE\Debugger

Thanks to every/anyone who can steer me in the right direction with this.

Hi GS and thanks for responding,

I got Registry Booster as a free "add on" program when I renewed my Vipre anti-virus several years ago. It has since updated every year for no charge and I saw no reason to get rid of it. My PC seems to hang at times, and after I run it, the "hanging" isn't so bad for several months afterwards. I assumed that it was some registry conflucts causing the hanging. Anyway...

The program comes from UniBlue. Here is the site link:

I just noticed that each reg key has no Value set to it and some of them have a debugger listing that points to a separate program I have: TuneUp Untilities (which I got free from Vipre last year).

Not sure if that means anything.

First thing to do is remove the so called Registry Booster with this : http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html use the free version.

Secondly stay well away from any Uniblue sites and products, and while your at it stay well away from similar sites such as Brothersoft.

If you want to use a safe Reg cleaner (and that's all that's happening, no such thing as a Reg Booster) then use CCleaner : http://www.piriform.com/ its also free and will not cause problems like downloading/installing spyware, unlike Uniblue products.

Once the Reg Booster is removed use another computer to download and burn the ISO of the above mentioned product in my first post, I find imgburn the best and easiest to use is also free : http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/

Then boot into the disc and update and run Full scan.

Unfortunately your registry may now be beyond repair but let's hope not.

Edit : just realised I didn't post it previous. LOL

Here is the programme to burn and scan with : http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-antivir-rescue-system
