Keyboard and pointer won't work after scan

Recommended Posts

I was trying to speed up a friends laptop, so I ran Superantispyware free. It found something like 400 threats, but when it removed them and restarted the laptop, the keyboard and pointer stopped working. This is windows vista and I tried to restore to an earlier check point but it keeps encountering an error no matter what restore point I choose. The pointer and keyboard work fine in bios. The only option I can think of is re-installing windows vista, but I have no disc for this. Please help as I look like a real idiot now and was only trying to do a favor.

You can try booting into safe mode to see if they work there and restore the items removed in the scan by opening SUPERAntiSpyware, clicking Manage Quarantine, select the item (non-cookies) and restore. If they do not work in safe mode, you could try plugging in a usb mouse. If that fails, you may want to contact the PC manufacturer as there is likely a restore partition on the laptop.
