Undetected Malware

Recommended Posts

I have malware (must've gone to a bad site) that's generating bogus emails from my email account. These include links which I'm sure must also be dangerous. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, have McAfee through ATT (my ISP), and earlier this evening ran SuperAntiSpyware but, although it caught and removed tracking cookies, it didn't detect the virus either. I'm at my wit's end. Suggestions, please? Thanks so much.

Welcome to the SAS forum.

Most email account hacks aren't due to an infection on the computer. Rather, the hacker has gotten your email address and password via other means. You can change your email password and see if that helps, but often the only solution is to delete the email account and create a new one.

I also suggest running an online scan with Eset Nod32: http://go.eset.com/us/online-scanner

It acts like a bot, from previous experience, but I guess could be a hacker. Will try your suggestions though. Thanks for the suggestions and the welcome!
