Eliminate the need for a System Re-Boot for Application Update

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the SAS forum.

Not all application updates require a reboot.

With that being said, some core/version updates (like any other program) require a reboot. That's just the way it is.

As Seth said, there are only a few components that require a reboot. While we're responding to feedback after our 5.0 version launch, there may be more updates than usual of those components. Typical updates won't require a reboot as those components rarely change.

Emsisoft AntiMalware also runs as a windows service but doesn't require a system re-boot, just an application re-start. I was actually able to force an update on SuperAntiSpyware by using the Unlocker freeware programme to unlock those files that were not able to be updated namely "SASWINLO.DLL". I then copied the files from another system that had already been updated. Everything seems to be fine.
