V5.0.1076 Real-time Protection Failure

Recommended Posts

This applies to Windows 7 SP1 x86 and x64 Professional.

Real-time protection does not detect malicious files being loaded from disk partitions other than the C:\ (primary partition). This is 100% repeatable.

To reproduce the issue.

1. Temporarily disable real-time protection in other security programs such as primary anti-virus program.

2. Download TrojanSimulator from the link below. Save a copy on the C:\ partition and a copy on another disk partition such as the D:\ partition or a Flash drive.

http://www.misec.net/products/TrojanSimulator.zip

(NOTE: TrojanSimulator is a totally BENIGN file that simulates a malicious trojan.)

3. Go to the TrojanSimulator.zip file on the C:\ partition and unzip it. SAS real-time protection will promptly detect and quarantine the file TrojanSimulator.exe.

4. Go to the TrojanSimulator.zip file on non-C:\ partition or disk and unzip it. SAS real-time protection fails to detect or quarantine the file TrojanSimulator.exe.

Other than the above failure, V5.0.1076 is GREAT!!!!!
