Installation from SafeMode

Recommended Posts

My computer is so messed up, I can't boot into regular mode. But when I try to install SuperAntiSpyware it fails because the installer isn't running (due to safe mode status). Is there any install method that will work w/ safemode?

Another bump for this one. I was just going to post this but thought I might as well add to this one. I work on multiple computers a day and using the Microsoft installer is not always the best way to go. When running in safe mode there is no guarantee it will work, hence superantispyware will not install. I then have to fall back on to tools which are not as good, but will install (well almost) every time.

This should probably be in the suggestion forum.

Keep up the good work, I bought superantispware, and suggest to others to do the same.

We are looking at producing a .ZIP or simple install that can intall in Safe Mode or be run from a USB drive, etc.

There is a workaround .

Convert the following into a .reg file , merge it and reboot into safemode :

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]
@="Service"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]
@="Service"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]
@="Service"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]
@="Service"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]
@="Service"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]
@="Service"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet004\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]
@="Service"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet004\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]
@="Service"

This should work for multiple user accounts . What this does is to enable the installer service to run from safemode .

If you want to undo the changes after the install you can use this .reg file :

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet004\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet004\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer]

Nice.

Not the most ideal solution, but a good work around none the less.

I will give it a go and see how it works.
