humptydo Posted January 23, 2011 I previously had 4.47.100 free edition installed; today updates installed 1.48.100. Prior to today when scanning no problems experienced. When scanned after updates installed was going alright - indicated adware.tracking cookies then when reachesd spider solitaire.lnk hangs, Superspyware locksup. I then had to close and restarted computer.I am running XP home edition SP3 & IE7 Other programs installed are : Zone Alarm firewall & ESET anti virus. I tried the following actions in attempt to solve problem, ran it in safe mode, uninstalled and reinstalled tried to run again, got out of safe mode uninstalled and reinstalled again still no joy. Any clues please will be appreciated.
Seth Posted January 23, 2011 Welcome to the SAS forum humptydo. In SAS's Preferences-->Scanning Control, please uncheck the options for Direct Disk Access and Kernel Direct File Access. Does SAS still hang now?
humptydo Posted January 23, 2011 Tks Seth. Greatly appreciated the advice. Worked like a charm. As it transpired was getting other 'hangs' in scan e.g.".dat". Anyway due to your assistance all resolved now. Cheers Humptydo (Ken)
Seth Posted January 23, 2011 You're welcome. If you want to determine the root cause of the issue, you can submit a Customer Support Request and the SAS team can run diagnostics on the system. https://www.superantispyware.com/precreateticket.html
