WaxyChicken Posted September 14, 2010 I have caught a virus that SAS was unable to detect. the virus makes it difficult to start anti-virus programs and also hijacks Google clicks to redirect you to spam sites. i'm still trying to repair the damage. 1 - Where do i submit the virus so you mad add it to your scan collection? the virus extracts some .dll or .sys files and recopies them with the .sys extension and random names. The virus infects Firefox, IE, and DNS settings. Google results are displayed when searching, but when you actually click on a result you are redirected to a spam site. (this thing is being a real PITA to remove) 2 - RUNSAS.EXE will start. SUPERANTISPYWARE.EXE will not - it closes immediately. This behavior began when infected with the virus. how can i fix this? Seth Posted September 14, 2010 Welcome to the SAS forum WC. The first thing is to make sure your using the latest version/core/trace of SAS. At the time of writing, the latest V is 4.42.1000, Core 5505, Trace 3317. If SAS is fully updated and the infection remains, please see here: https://www.superantispyware.com/csrcreateticket.html
rmlake13 Posted September 14, 2010 I have caught a virus that SAS was unable to detect. 2 - RUNSAS.EXE will start. SUPERANTISPYWARE.EXE will not - it closes immediately. This behavior began when infected with the virus. Were you actually able to scan with SUPERAntispyware? In your post you said you couldn't get it to start. Have you tried to open SAS while in Safe Mode? You could also try running the portable version of SAS and seeing if that will run. Download it from https://www.superantispyware.com/sassaferun.php
