SAS freezes after scanning

Recommended Posts

Hi, SAS updates OK and scans OK (although it has frozen up on that in the past). Once it completes the scan, I can see what it has found but it is frozen at this point. Does not close, ctrl-alt-del to close a program does not work. ? Thank you, Degas

I am experiencing the same thing on my HP XP laptop. We have been using SAS for about 4 years, and this is the 1st time it's happened. The worst part is that you cannot get out of SAS because it is not finished quarantining and removing the 45 items it found. I hate to just turn off the computer because I don't know what will get trashed.

Please help. Thanks. jj

What numeric version of SAS are you running?

For background I have been getting "Windows Search Indexer has stopped working" errors for a week or so before this. I had the same thing happen as the OP yesterday after 2 complete scans, both of which found 3 trojans (gen-start page). SAS would freeze and stay hazy so that I could read it and see the scan results, but would have to be closed by windows. This happened running version 4.56.1000. Thanks for any help, sorry to bump an old post if that is frowned upon in your forum.

First, upgrade to version 5.0.1144:https://www.superantispyware.com/download.html Then try running a complete scan in safe mode.

Thanks for the reply. I did all of the above and during the scan SAS found 1 trojan, 1 heur and several adware tracking cookies. It seems the program then closed itself without any input from me. When I reopened SAS it says the last scan was an hour ago, yet shows nothing in the logs or the quarantine.
