Avira WebGuard and SUPERAntiSpyware

Recommended Posts

I am currently having Internet speed problems with Avira AntiVir Premium WebGuard when it is Enabled.

The latest advice I have received on the Avira Premium forum is as stated here.

I see that you have a bunch of security related programs:

C:\Program Files\Emsisoft\Online Armor\OAcat.exe

C:\Program Files\Emsisoft Anti-Malware\a2service.exe

C:\Program Files\Panda USB Vaccine\USBVaccine.exe

C:\Program Files\IObit\Advanced SystemCare 3\AWC.exe

C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe

C:\Program Files\Secunia\PSI\psi.exe

I recommend you to make sure that avwebgrd.exe is allowed in Online Armor's firewall, uninstall Emsisoft Anti-Malware, Advanced SystemCare 3 and SUPERAntiSpyware.

Can someone please advise if there are issues with SUPERAntiSpyware (Free) and Avira WebGuard that would cause Internet Speed to drop?

The Online Armor thing was fixed ages ago. Which leaves, in Avira's opinion as stated above, Emsisoft Anti-Malware (Free), ASC 3 Pro (which I will be dropping when the license expires) and you guys.

As SUPERAntiSpyware (Free) and Emsisoft Anti-Malware (Free) do not have any active guards Enabled, that I know of, I just can not see it as a problem to have them as extra highly reliable passive scanners. I personally believe it is all an Avira WebGuard issue.

Any clarification and advise will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the SAS forum laopa.

SAS won't slow down your internet, nor do I know of any reported issues between SAS and Avira.

My suggestion is to continue pursuing this on the Avira forum.

Good luck :-)

For some reason, at the Avira forum they always advise to uninstall SAS

even if you are using SAS free. It does not make sense at all, in my

opinion, since there is no conflict between the no real time SAS free

and Avira.

If I was you, I would not bother listening to them when they tell you

to uninstall SAS. When your subscription to Avira10 runs out, find a

better anti virus, thats what I did and you should do too.

Hi Guys and Girls (just in case),

Thanks a lot for the feedback and comments.

While I try to sort the issue out with Avira I will not be un-installing SAS Free, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free or Emsisoft Anti-Malware Free.

My bet is on it being an issue of Avira WebGuard (which acts as a proxy) slowing things down when users have other proxies in place such as Hosts Server, Sandboxie, Proxomitron etc.

Thanks again for the feedback. I think SAS is a necessity on any system.
