Why is SAS still flagging Flash tracking cookies?

Recommended Posts

SAS Folks:

This morning I got up and noticed SAS was asking to quarantine a flash tracking cookie.

Note than in Preferences, Scan for tracking cookies is NOT selected.

Is there a reason Flash tracking cookie detection is not following the Scan for tracking cookies setting?

Unless Flash tracking cookies are malicious, I'm fine with leaving them just like I do not wish to scan for browser tracking cookies.

This also always leads to a panicked phone call from my wife if I am traveling and she wakes up to see this quarantine request.

Can somebody from SAS explain why Flash tracking cookie detection is not following the Scan for tracking cookies setting?

If Flash tracking cookie detection should follow the Scan for tracking cookies setting, when will it be fixed?

That will be updated in version 5.0. For now you can just trust that category when it's detected and they won't be detected again.

This should be resolved now with definition release Core 5303 and Trace 3115. Please let me know if you have any further problems. This should follow the cookie scanning option in the Scanning Control Settings.

LOL.

Yet another example of SAS's swift response to issues.
