Exe filetype association problem

Recommended Posts

I have some virus that prevents .exe files from being executed: whenever I try to execute something (either from the explorer or from the command line), I get an error message "cannot run the application. reinstalling it could fix the problem.".

I booted from a CD and run superantispyware from here, since I cannot run it otherwise. It found a problem with exe filetype association, fixed it, but I guess the virus auto-applies at bootup, and when booting again it was still there.

What could I do to fix it ?

I tried to fix the problem by going to filetype association from the explorer, but there are no "EXE" filtype defined here.

I also wanted to run services.smc but again, it won't run.

Any idea what I could do ?

Try this:

https://www.superantispyware.com/portable

It may be able to fix the problem.
