It is only necessary to scan in SAFE MODE if you are having trouble removing malware or if you have some specific reason that you think the normal mode scan is not detecting something. Most users scan in normal mode almost 100% of the time. If you run a scan in Safe Mode, you do not need to follow it up with a scan in normal mode...unless you just want to check if something was quarantined satisfactorily per the Safe Mode scan.
