cashrum Posted April 13, 2009 I got infected by XP Police and used SAS to remove it. That worked, but now every time I reboot I get a rundll error: can't load windows/system32/autochk.dll. I don't know who is calling for it. How can I get rid of this? cas
siliconman01 Posted April 13, 2009 You most likely have an entry in your system startup that references autochk.dll....similar to the one below O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [autochk] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\autochk.dll,_IWMPEvents@16 Download/install Hijackthis (Trend Micro Hijack This) from the link below. http://esupport.trendmicro.com/consumer/Pages/ProductDownloads.aspx#TMHT - Run a scan with Hijackthis. - Locate the 04 Run entry that references autochk.dll (like the one above) - Check mark ONLY that entry. - Click on Fix Checked located at the bottom left of the Hijackthis window. Let Hijackthis remove that entry. - Close Hijackthis and reboot your computer. The problem should be resolved.
