Updating from V4.21.1004 Free to 4.25.1012 Free -- ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I had a couple questions before I update to the newest FREE version:

1. Are there any issues/problems with the newest FREE version of SAS (4.25.1012) that would warrant sticking with an older version?

2. Does it still work just fine with XP SP2? (I don't have plans to go to SP3 anytime soon.)

3. Any other programs (or specific versions of programs) it conflicts with?

4. If I update, it was suggested I uninstall the old version and install the new version fresh -- and that I should use the uninstall tool here: https://www.superantispyware.com/downloads/SASUNINST.EXE

So I should not bother with add/remove programs at all and just download and run this .exe? And that will completely uninstall the old version of SAS? Is this tool completely safe? Any issues with it having an effect on anything else?

Thanks for the help! :)

No, update to the latest version.

Yes, it works fine with SP2.

There is never a 100% guarantee that a unique program that you have on your specific system may conflict. However, if you have no conflicts with your old version of SAS, the odds are very high that you will not have any issues with latest version.

Use the Uninstall tool to remove the old version completely. Yes, the tool is safe...it only uninstalls SAS and does not affect other programs. Just close down SAS and then run the Uninstall tool.

I recommend that you update to the latest version of SAS each time a new version is released. Often the newest version has enhancements that are targeted at the latest cybercriminal infections being spewed out on the web.

Thanks for the replies! So how do I completely close down SAS? Do I need to uncheck "start SAS when Windows starts" within the program then restart my computer? Or do I just right-click on the icon in the systray and choose "exit" at the bottom? Or does it not matter?
