Downloading Blocked by Internet Explorer

Recommended Posts

To anyone who can help:

I just purchased SuperAntiSpyware Professional Edition today (7 Feb. 2009), but I have not been able to download the software.

Internet Explorer has blocked my attempts to download SuperAntiSpyware.com Professional Edition. It posts the following message: "The help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this site from showing certain content. Click here for options."

When I click for options I get a drop down menu with the message: "File download blocked. Then "Download File" and "What's the Risk?" When I select "Download File" I get a message saying that "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded."

I have reset all the security options to the lowest level on the Internet Options menu; I have also turned off the security features in the Control Panel.

What else could I do to get my software downloaded?

Thanks,

JDembo

Try this:

1. Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools>Internet Options

2. Select the Security tab

3. Click on (highlight) Trusted Sites

4. Click on the "Sites" hot button

5. In the box that is labeled "Add this website to the zone:", type in http://*.superantispyware.com

6. Click on the "Add" hot button

7. Uncheck the box that is labeled "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone"

8. Click on Close and then Apply and Ok.

9. Close IE and then try the download of SAS again.

When I have had this happen in the past, I quickly realize I'm on my Limited User Account. How easy we forget. When I go to my account with Administrator privileges, the download executes just fine. Try using an account with admin privileges.
