prairie dog Posted September 20, 2008 I know you dont want 2 AV programs on your computer. Is it the same for AS programs as well? If OK what other AS program would you recommend, just to make sure everything is gone? Thanks
Seth Posted September 20, 2008 Your question depends on many things. The most important being your knowledge of what is safe to "click on". What are you currently running for internet security?
control Posted September 20, 2008 SUPERAntiSpyware & Spybot! MBAM has to many false positives in my opinion, i would not recommend it
prairie dog Posted September 20, 2008 Thanks for the reply. To Seth- the question is for my desktop which has avira free edition, SAS free, and windows firewall. SAS free killed a couple viruses that I had and both avira and SAS are now showing clean scans. I just want to double check with a different AS program. What do you think? Thanks again
Seth Posted September 20, 2008 Avira free edition is about the best you're going to get for a free product. If you want better protection, then I'd go for the NOD32 internet security suite along side with SAS Professional.
prairie dog Posted September 20, 2008 Thanks Seth. I guess what I am asking is that I just want to do another scan with a different AS program. What do you recommend? Spybot?
Seth Posted September 20, 2008 You're welcome. Spybot is way behind the times. Here are two better alternatives: http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/

prairie dog Posted September 20, 2008 Ran Dr. Webb and came back clean. Thanks again for the input Seth!
3xist Posted September 29, 2008 IMO: SUPERAntispyware Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Avira AntiVir Personal & Maybe even Dr.Web CureIt! These will do the job. All of them kick ass. And Avira tops all in the latest test here: http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/e ... 008_08.php
