I got a malware program that stopped me from running superantispyware. I put the comp into safe mode and ran the program and it got rid of all the malware, however when i used my browser (ei) I was pushed from page to page and not to the page I wanted. I couldnt go to any page i typed in. Eventually the only thing I could do was reformat and start again.

I guess it was my own fault trusting a active x file. Anyone else had this problem?

Yes I guess I should , however can you still get windows updates if you use a different browser than internet explorer , last time I was running a different browser microsoft wouldnt let me download anything.

You dont uninstall IE,you just stop using it as your default browser. All MS updates require IE so just DL Firefox and make sure you have it as the default browser and your good.I suggest getting java updayes from Sun Microsystems as well.Sorry to hear you formatted as Im sure there was a way to get you cleaned up without it,however time consuming it would have been.

Why :?:

Because IE may be a security risk! (for example ActiveX) :(

I would recommend Firefox with AdBlockPlus (and NoScript) :D
