Seth Posted October 7, 2006 Hi. I'm experimenting with the free version of SAS to use a promotional tool. In "Preferences", if I disable SAS from starting at startup, task manager still shows an SAS entry consuming about 20,000K of memory. Why? NOTE: Home page protection is disabled and there is no SAS entry in msconfig's startup.
SirJon Posted October 7, 2006 Did you check Windows Services?
Seth Posted October 7, 2006 My apologies SirJon. I had a "Duh!" moment. As long as SAS is preferenced to not start at startup, then there is no SAS entry in Task Manager. What happened is, I have SAS set to not start, but I'd forgotten that I opened it earlier. As such, the SAS icon was in the system tray, but I overlooked it. SUPERAntiSpy Posted October 7, 2006 Thanks for clarifying - that makes sense. If SAS is not set to run on startup, it won't be showing in the Task Manager, unless you start it
