Once scan started, cannot abort it

Recommended Posts

I think you're wrong. I can start a scan and cancel the scan and it stops for me.

I'm on Windows XP Pro w/SP2 and IE7

Well, I CAN pause it. It does stop, but the "Elapsed Time" continues, the window doesn't close, etc.

So what do you do to cancel it. Or change the config of the scan. (Those are separate questions.)

Well what version are you running?

I'm running the 4.0.1112 version and I click on the CANCEL button on the bottom right and it prompts me if I'm sure I want to abort and click yes and it stops.

Just click on Preferences and you should be able to change many features.

Not sure exactly what you want to change that you're having trouble with.

I just uninstalled what I had, and downloaded, installed, and registered the Home Users version, which says it's version 3,9,1008

And I am having exactly the same problem as before. Can pause a scan, but can't cancel it. Or close SAS without using TaskManager.

Also, when a scan is either running or paused, my CPU is running full-out, 100%. Should it be? I hope not..

Take a look at SAS running a scan on just the registry. It's stuck in initialization, even after 5' 25'' :

Hi saszuki,

Sorry to hear of your issues. I'll have to leave it up to the SAS support people to help out here as I don't know the inner workings of their program well enough yet to know what might be the cause.

saszuki,

You really should upgrade to the V4.0 Build 1128 PreRelease and see if your problems continue. I do not experience any of the problems you are seeing on either my Vista or XP-SP2 system.

- Can cancel a scan in progress at any time.

- CPU usage during a scan is only ~ 40% and does not impact other program performance.

What other security programs do you have installed and running real-time?

How much memory do you have?

Are you running a non-standard desktop that could result in your not seeing the Cancel alert window when you click on Cancel?

This is happening to me as well; I can start it, but it won't stop. However, I found that if you really want to stop the program, go into Task Manager/Processes, and end the SUPERAntiSpyware process. It works, but I really should have to do this....
