    Updating to 4.15.1000 Problem

I can confirm that not having the SAS icon in the system tray seems to be the cause of SAS not being able to update. After enabling this start up option, the update went on without problems. I don't normally use this option since I only do on demand scans and don't need SAS running all the time. I did not have this problem with previous versions of SAS when updating to new versions. Al

XP PRO with SP2. Previous update for 4.0 worked fine. No realtime, on demand only. Al

    SUPERAntiSpyware Installation

Did the idea of having a version of SAS that will run from CD or USB die, or are there still plans for such a version? Al

    Realtime Testing with SPYCAR

As per my previous append: IE-SetHomePage : Spycar change blocked If your question meant - did SAS notifiy me with a pop-up that the home page was being modified by SPYCAR? - then yes it did. Al

    Realtime Testing with SPYCAR

CHICKEN!!!! Or do you not trust PowerShadow to get your *** out of jail Hi fcukdat, Ganging up on me with Nick are you? Yeah, I guess I should take the plunge with PowerShadow. I did run it once as a test with something I downloaded from SeriALL.com, but I felt very uncomfortable doing it on my laptop since I knew the file was crapware. Time to build another machine Al (chicken) Adric

    Realtime Testing with SPYCAR

Does that mean SAS realtime protection is mainly signature based? I'm not to keen on testing with real spyware, especially if it isn't stopped. Call me chicken Al SUPERAntiSpyware is not mainly signature based - it is designed to block spyware, adware, malware, trojans, etc. that actually are harmful, not test files that don't do anything. Ok, but for consistency sake, SAS should have allowed the IE-SetHomePage to also pass since it's not spyware Al (where is this going to end) Adric

  8. I've heard good things about SAS and I am trying some tests on the real-time protection to see how well SAS does against certain attacks. The only test I've done so far is with SPYCAR and will try others later. One can read about and download SPYCAR at http://www.spycar.org/Welcome%20to%20Spycar.html I was somewhat surprised that SAS only stopped the IE-SetHomePage test. Is SPYCAR an unfair test for SAS? Does SAS not monitor/stop registry entries that are often changed by malware programs? 9. Excellent - we'll have SAS read the control panel setting in the future. I assume you mean the time format correct? Mine is set as HH:mm:ss (24 Hour Clock) Note: it is quite possible that the AM/PM symbols will be blank on some systems as seen on mine. Al
  10. Did you make sure the interface was closed when you were waiting for the scan? If it's open, it won't trigger the scan - this is by design so the scan won't start if a user is using the product. Yes, the interface was closed. Al I tested here and it works - I tried a few different systems - we have not had any complaints since the build in Dec where there was a Dec scanning issue. Hmmmm, I took a look again and noticed that SAS doesn't seem to like the 24 hour clock. Apparently, it's dead set on AM or PM. I can't enter anything higher than 12 for the hour in the selection panel, but there is no indication whether it is AM or PM. That's probably why the scan is not running. I was waiting for something to run in the AM and SAS was waiting for PM. How do I fix this? Al You can adjust your control panel to display the proper time - we will be making SAS read the control panel setting in the next release. Ok, I see the AM and PM now in SAS. BTW, the autoscan started after selecting the right time, so the scheduling works fine. Thanks, Al

CPU usage spike every other second? SAS Pro

Yes, and that's not all I keep on my desktop Hey , how did you know about my heart monitor? Al
  14. I'm having this problem with the latest download of Pro. No scan since installing yesterday, even though daily has been set. I tried playing with the scheduled time by setting it 10 minutes ahead of the current time and it still did not start after the 10 minutes had past. Any idea what might be keeping the scan from starting? Al

CPU usage spike every other second? SAS Pro

That's the "bad" thing about task manager showing CPU usage - if it shows 15% for a split second, people assume it's "wasting" 15% of their entire CPU all the time - which is far from the case. Nonetheless, it is quite annoying and gives a bad impression even though performance is not impacted. I guess I could remove my CPU monitor from my desktop. Al
