  1. No, SAS Free, SAS Pro, and SAS Portable play well with other active security software.
  2. Under Preferences>Scanning Control tab, does it scan everything if you uncheck ? - Ignore files larger than 4MB - Ignore non-executable files - Scan only known file types (.exe,.com,.dll, etc.) Also, are you running the latest SAS version which is V4.54.1000?
  3. Submit the file to SAS for analysis. https://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/topic/2814-submitting-samples-to-superantispyware/
  4. Your slowdown may also be caused by temporary files and folders clogging up the system. I recommend that you download/install freebie cleaner program CCleaner which will remove these unneccessary temporary/junk files. Just run the CLEANER component of CCleaner, not the Registry cleaner component unless you are familiar with the system registry so that you can watch what the registry cleaner wants to remove. Download/install the SLIM version of CCleaner from the link below. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds'>http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Description of CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner User forum for CCleaner: http://forum.piriform.com/ Then defrag your hard drive after you have run CCleaner. NOTE: You can run CCleaner frequently to keep your system clear of these unneeded files. CCleaner also removes cookies.
  5. You are running a very old version of SAS. The latest version of SAS is V4.54.1000. I recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of SAS. Then rescan and see if the same detections occur. I pretty confident that these pretaining to Atapi are a False Positive. Submit them as potential false positives per the instructions at the link below. https://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=28
  6. See the link below. https://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=47 I recommend that you uninstall SAS using the SAS Uninstaller Assistant provided in the link above. Then go to www.superantispyware.com and download/install the latest version 4.54.1000
  7. Questions concerning V5.0 Pre-Release should be posted down in the SUPERAntiSpyware Pre-Release 5.00 (32-bit and 64-bit) section of the forum. https://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/forum/55-superantispyware-pre-release-500-32-bit-and-64-bit/ When you click on "Scan Now", the missed scan should start and run to completion. A scan log should be available after completion of the scan. You can test this by using the Task Manager after clicking on Scan Now. SuperAntiSpyware.exe in memory should be showing continuous CPU utilization indicating that it scanning. Another way to view(test) it is to uncheck "Do Not show the user interface while performing this task" in the Scan configuration settings. That will allow the scan GUI to appear once the scan starts so that you can view the scan progress. Edit: I just retested this on Win 7 SP1 x64 Professional and Win 7 SP1 x86 Professional with SAS V5.0.1090 and it works as designed on my systems.
  8. Please try this: 1. Close down SAS completely by right clicking on the Notification Tray SAS icon and selecting Exit from the menu. 2. Go to START>All Programs>SuperAntiSpyware and right click on SuperAntiSpwyare Professional (or Free). 3. Select "Run as Administrator" to start SAS. 4. Once SAS restarts, right click on the Notification Tray SAS icon and select "Check for Updates" You should now be able to update the program. The latest version is V4.54.1000.
  9. Reboot your computer into SAFE MODE and then scan with SAS. Let SAS quarantine the files. Then reboot back into Normal Mode and see if the files still exist. If that does not work, try "taking ownership" of the files and then remove them. For Vista/Windows 7 http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/ For XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421
  10. RunSAS.exe is used if some type of malware is blocking the startup of SuperAntiSpyware.exe. RunSAS.exe starts SuperAntiSpyware.exe under a random name (normally a long string of random alphanumberic characters such as C578699Z8882238fdfsa.exe) so that malware does not "see" SuperAntiSpyware.exe
  11. There is no separate download for 64-bit. The SAS installer detects if the system is 64-bit and will install the 64-bit version under C:\Program Files instead of C:\Program Files (x86).
  12. Perhaps SAS is hanging on trying to update immediately on system startup. For a test, go to the Preferences>Update tab and uncheck the option to update on SAS startup.
  13. You should update to the latest version of SAS which is v4.53.1000 and see if the same issue exists.
  14. The first thing you should do is update to the latest version 4.53.1000 of SAS. Because you are having a problem, I recommend that you first uninstall SAS using the SAS Uninstaller Assistant from the link below. https://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/topic/1344-superantispyware-uninstallation-assistant/ Then download the latest version of SAS from the link below and install it. https://www.superantispyware.com
  15. The link below is worth following and may resolve your problems. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic397499.html
  16. Try downloading and using the Portable version of SAS. https://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html?tag=SAS_PORTABLEFOLDER
  17. I recommend that you submit a Customer Support Ticket and let the SAS gurus work with you on resolving the issue. https://www.superantispyware.com/precreateticket.html You should upgrade to V4.52.1000 first and see if the issue still exists. First uninstall SAS using the SAS Uninstaller Assistant which you can download from the link below. https://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/topic/1344-superantispyware-uninstallation-assistant/ The fact that you have not had problems in the past with SAS implies that a change in the latest version is not applicable to your hardware/software configuration. The gurus will work it out for you, I feel confident.
  18. Yes, you can install V5.0. There is no indication that the free version will not be available in final. (Double negatives mean that the free version is gonna be available under V5.0 ) It is good practice to totally remove V4.51 prior to installing the pre-release version of V5.0. That makes it certain that there is nothing from an older version conflicting with the pre-release version.
  19. What version of SAS are you running...V4.51.1000?
  20. I strongly suspect that either a hardware driver is conflicting with SAS or that you have some program running on your system that has a driver that is conflicting with SAS. Either that or you have a memory problem. Are your hardware drivers up-to-date? 1. Run an indepth memory test as per the link below. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer 2. If memory tests show no problems, submit a SAS Customer Support Reguest and let the SAS gurus help isolate the problem. They will probably want the minidump from the application crash so that they can thoroughly analyze what is happening on your system. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer
  21. It is safest to always download directly from the vendor/developer site. JMO
  22. Very interesting results for sure. Does it scan to completion now in Normal Mode with all three boxes checked? The reason I ask this is that one tracking cookie you found. At one point, there was a particular cookie that was causing SAS fits (I do not recall the name of the cookie). At any rate, I assume that you let it remove the cookie. So now does it scan to completion in Normal Mode? The other option is to submit a Customer Support Request and let the SAS gurus run an analysis of your system to see if that picks up anything weird. https://www.superantispyware.com/precreateticket.html OR you could try the new version 5.0.1078 pre-release which has many, many enhancements in it....both in the engines and in the GUI. The version is very near final release so it should run okay on your system. You can download V5.0 from the link below. https://www.superantispyware.com/sasprereleaselimited.php Uninstall V4.51 before you install the new V5.0 pre-release.
  23. You could submit a Customer Support Request and submit the registry keys. https://www.superantispyware.com/precreateticket.html Below is how to show hidden files and folders in Vista http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial130.html
  24. Oops, my bad. Those are registry entries which cannot be submitted as False Positives. You need to submit a Customer Support Request per the link below. https://www.superantispyware.com/precreateticket.html
  25. The above are system registry values. You will not be able to submit them via the SAS sample submit tool. Do you have the option selected in Windows 7 to show all files, folders, and unhide Protected Operating System files? Please perform the procedure below and then see if you find the above files. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/394-hidden-files-folders-show-hide.html If they are still not found, then they no longer exist on your disk. They are in a Temp folder which means they may be transient based on a specific program running.
