  1. Thanks for the suggestion - we have had that request before and will incorporate that into a future build. Keep the suggestions coming, they have all be great feedback! -Nick

Brandon - that is in our queue also Our signatures are a little different (or maybe not) than others as we have scripted rules that can often remove dozens (or more) items with a single signature / rules, so it is hard to quantify the "number" of new true signatures. -Nick
  3. I will certainly keep that in our suggestion list. I know users with slower connections have suggest this before. -Nick
  4. That option is actually tied to the Startup Scanning directly above and that feature is not available in the Free Edition. I will make sure it shows the unavailable screen in the next release. -Nick
  5. Mikey - glad to see you pay us a visit I look forward to hearing from you! -Nick
  6. SirJon - I will have to look into this and see why it would close. We use standard registry reading functions from user-mode (until the next release) so there should not be a problem. Even if a registry read failed, we would just skip it - so what you are experiencing is very odd. -Nick
  7. Not at all - just trying to restore some sanity to the relationship between developers and users! -Nick
  8. I will be happy to answer any and all questions here on this forum, or on the other forums. I will always answer with honest and to the point responses. -Nick
  9. Peter the SASWINLO.DLL (our WinLogon Handler) is used to delete files and registry keys that are "in-use" when the scan is performed as well as forming our First Chance startup-scanning to remove any harmful items on startup. -Nick
  10. Adrian - thank you very much! It's nice to know our work is appreciated! -Nick
  11. Hello - version 3.1.1010 is available from our main site. The version number and release notes are displayed on the download page here: https://www.superantispyware.com/download.html -Nick
  12. The report is a one time report during installation. We do not have detection reporting, but may add that and the option to re-submit diagnostics after installation. -Nick

  15. Our approach to the scanning process is to be as thorough as possible recognizing that our scans may therefore not always be the fastest. Scanning time is determined principally by the number and size of the files. We feel scanning can and should be done when computer use is at a minimum. Consider this - If a violent criminal was loose in your city, would you want the police to simply look in common hiding places, or search the entire city leaving no stone unturned? We choose to look everywhere to ensure your safety. In addition, our professional version of SUPERAntiSpyware allows wide latitude in when scanning may be scheduled for the convenience of our users.
  16. SUPERAntiSpyware's Real-Time protection scans each file before it runs on your computer to ensure it is not, and does not contain spyware. If the file is detected as an infection it is prevented from running. The Real-Time Protection will also scan key points of your registry to ensure spyware has not "hooked" itself into your browser or operating system. SUPERAntiSpyware also includes our unique First Chance Prevention technology that examines common and not so common startup locations with your registry for spyware that is set to run when you restart your computer. The First Chance system scans these items when your computer shuts down or logs off to prevent spyware that replaces itself on shutdown, as well as when your system starts to remove the spyware before it has a chance to run.
  17. This subject has been the debate of many newsgroups and online forums. Cookies are simply text files stored on your hard drive and cannot themselves harm your computer in any way. Typically cookies are used to remember logins and keep track of user settings on web-sites. Cookies can be used to track your movement on the Internet ONLY if a site is aware of the cookies and is designed to use the specific cookies. Because of their use in tracking, many feel that this constitutes spyware. SUPERAntiSpyware will detect tracking cookies as "Adware.Tracking Cookies" and you can choose to remove them or leave them on your system. You may turn off this feature in the Preferences->Scanning Control tab of SUPERAntiSpyware should you not wish cookies to be scanned, detected and removed.
  18. SUPERAntiSpyware has an auto-update application built-in (SSUPDATE.EXE). When an update is available, you will be notified when you check, then you can click the "Download and Install" option and the update will automatically be downloaded and installed. There is no need to uinstall and re-install. -Nick
  19. The Right-Click menu update does check for both rules and program updates. If the help says otherwise, I will correct it in the next release. The other suggestions are great ideas and I will implement them in our next release! Thanks for taking the time to post your ideas. -Nick
  20. The SUPERAntiSpywre ShellExecuteHook is used for real-time protection and detection of items executed via the Windows Shell Interface. If you are using the Free Edition which does not provide Real-Time Protection as our Professional version does, it will not harm the system to block the installation of the hook. Make sure you don't block the installation of our SASENUM.SYS, SASKUTIL.SYS and SASDIFSV.SYS services, as those are critical to the operation of the product. -Nick

  22. Brandon - thanks for the report. I tested on our machines here, and it seems to work fine. I will see if we can reproduce the problem here so we can track it down. -Nick

  24. With any product within a highly competitive and over saturated area such as the anti-spyware market segment, the most obvious question you may have is "How does SUPERAntiSpyware compare with other existing products?" Our Philosophy We at SUPERAntiSpyware.com focus on detecting and removing the most difficult spyware infections that other solutions often miss. No single product can detect and remove all threats at any given time. The industry is in a constant state of change with new infections coming out on a daily basis. SUPERAntiSpyware.com is in the position to locate, analyze and remove "zero-day" threats as they appear on the market. We often update our definitions and rules several times per day to ensure that users have the most up to date protection available. Many competing products focus simply on the "number" of items they can locate which includes benign (harmless) items such as cookies, registry keys, folders and data files. While cleaning up these items may be desired, they do not represent the truly harmful components that can steal your passwords or identity. SUPERAntiSpyware will also clean up these "traces," but our primary focus is on the actual harmful components. Who is SUPERAntiSpyware.com? SUPERAntiSpyware.com is a highly focused team of professionals who have been developing software for well over 20 years. We have been involved in the security segment of the software industry since 2000. Technology developed by our team has been featured in Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and has received numerous 5-star awards and reviews around the Internet. About our technology Our technology and products are designed and developed "in-house" which means we have complete control of our code and products so that we can ensure they are the most advanced in the industry. To the user, this means quick turn around times for detection of new threats, development of new removal techniques and product improvements.
