    No update since 8260?

How do I find out if I have the latest Database Version? Since version 8260 I haven't been able to get any update. Every time I click check for updates SAS tells me that it's already up to date. I did read the previous post about lack of weekend updates, but today is Tuesday so just wanted to be sure. Thanks. My info: Program Version: 5.0.1144 Database Version: 8260

    Problem uninstalling SAS

Thanks. So apparently the SAS log files and quarantined items are stored somewhere outside of the Program files directory so that's why I was still seeing them after the re-installation. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    Problem uninstalling SAS

Thanks. I reinstalled SAS last night, and found my old log files and quarantined items still present (after the re-installation completed). Apparently the uninstall didn't completely remove the old stuffs, but SAS seems to run all right so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Cheers.

    Problem uninstalling SAS

Please allow me to rephrase/repost my question, as it requires a different title. I uninstalled SAS via Control Panel -> Program Features -> SAS -> Uninstall. Nothing seemed to happen, although SAS disappeared from the list on the Program Features right away, as well as in C:\Program Files directory. The SAS desktop icon was still present on my desktop. Note that I didn't have SAS running (didn't use the auto start option) when I started the uninstall process. After rebooting my machine, the SAS desktop icon also disappeared. Just to be safe, I ran the SAS uninstaller assistant (downloaded from http://www.superanti...lay.html?faq=47). The only thing it did was to ask me to reboot, so I let it reboot, and once my system rebooted, again, I didn't see anything. I checked in my registry, and found a couple of entries of SAS in HKCU (Local settings... MuiCache), and HKLM (software\microsoft\radar\heapleakdetection\diagnosedapplications). Does anyone know what caused the strange uninstall behaviors? And, is it okay for me to reinstall SAS now? Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.

    Server busy and no response

Actually I went ahead to uninstall SAS via Control Panel -> Program Features -> SAS -> Uninstall. Nothing seemed to happen, although SAS disappeared from the list on the Program Features right away, and I couldn't find it in C:\Program Files directory either. The SAS desktop icon was still present on my desktop. After rebooting my machine, the desktop icon also disappeared. Just to be safe, I also ran the SAS uninstaller assistant (downloaded from http://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=47). It prompted me to reboot, so I let it reboot, and once my system rebooted, I didn't see anything. I checked in my registry, and found a couple of entries of SAS in HKCU (Local settings... MuiCache), and HKLM (software\microsoft\radar\heapleakdetection\diagnosedapplications). Could you let me know what I should do now? I'd like to reinstall my SAS. Thanks!

    Server busy and no response

Thanks Seth. The exact problem just happened again. I can understand that the server can occasionally be busy (although I had never had this problem for the past 2 years), but when I do a program update (from the Preferences tab) I should be getting some response. I am getting none. Does it sound like I need to reinstall SAS or maybe the server is busier than usual these days? Thanks again!

    Server busy and no response

Thanks. Attached is a screen shot, it's actually called "Check for updates now". Usually I would get a small popup saying that there's no new version available. But last night nothing ever came up. I will check again tonight to see if SAS is able to update. So, if the problem only happens once in a while it can be ignored? Thank you.
  9. I was trying to update my database definitions last night. Clicked the update button on the main tab, and got a small window (that looks like a SAS advertisement) saying that the server was busy and please try again later. Went to the Preferences tab, click the check version button, nothing ever comes up (usually a small popup would appear at the lower right hand corner of the display area). Tried again later last night (update button on the main tab), said database was up to date. Went to the Preferences tab to check version, still nothing comes up. Any clue what was going on? Thanks. Adware.Flash Tracking Cookie

Sorry to intrude, but I got the same thing (log file pasted below). The complete scan from the previous night (May 25) was clean. The files have also been on my system for a long time (since 2009). I forgot to uncheck before clicking the "next" button so I got them removed. I am running on Vista SP2. Thanks. ======================================== SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log http://www.superantispyware.com Generated 05/27/2010 at 02:17 AM Application Version : 4.37.1000 Core Rules Database Version : 4996 Trace Rules Database Version: 2808 Scan type : Complete Scan Total Scan Time : 01:47:32 Memory items scanned : 593 Memory threats detected : 0 Registry items scanned : 6822 Registry threats detected : 0 File items scanned : 124879 File threats detected : 3 Adware.Flash Tracking Cookie C:\Users\wle\AppData\Roaming\MACROMEDIA\FLASH PLAYER\#SHAREDOBJECTS\SL7LTM36\MSNTEST.SERVING-SYS.COM C:\Users\wle\AppData\Roaming\MACROMEDIA\FLASH PLAYER\#SHAREDOBJECTS\SL7LTM36\SERVING-SYS.COM C:\Users\wle\AppData\Roaming\MACROMEDIA\FLASH PLAYER\#SHAREDOBJECTS\SL7LTM36\VITAMINE.NETWORLDMEDIA.NET

How to restore a removed item

Thanks a lot siliconman01. Any idea why the program hadn't been detected by SAS before? From the timestamp it looks like the program has been here for years. SAS used to update the program version when I do a check for update. Looks like it's not doing that now. I will go install the latest then. Thank you.
  12. The following threat was detected in my last complete scan: Trojan.Agent/Gen-Koobface[bonkers] c:\Program files\Internet Offers\FSCommand\Launcher.exe I checked the property of this file and saw that the file was created in 2006, and had a modified/accessed timestamp in 2007. It's probably something that came with my PC. I suspected that it's a FP but wanted to quarantine it so I left the item checked, and clicked next on SuperAntiSpyware. Then it asked me to reboot my PC to completely remove the item. I didn't want to remove it so I clicked cancel. I checked the location and saw that the file was not there anymore, so I selected restore on SAS to have it restored, but I probably clicked the wrong selections and instead got the entry listed under "manage quarantined" removed. I can't find the item in its original location. 1) I would like to make sure that it's not a FP, is there any way to restore the item? 2) If, the item was indeed a threat, have I safely gotten rid of it by doing what I did above? I didn't restart my system when prompted by SAS, and I made a couple of attempts to restore the item, which, I can't tell whether it was successful or not. Many thanks for your help.
