Remote Admin Console

6 posts in this topic

Hello,

A little over a year ago I recomended to the company I work for that we purchase your SAS for 100 machines. Which they said yes to. I have been manually installing the software since then. I say "since then" because each time a new employee starts I have to log in as them on their computer and configure SAS Options and Scheduled Scan, I even have to configure it to run at start up.

Back then I was lead to believe that you would be turning out a feature that would allow the user to remotely administer SAS. In a post it was stated that the Admin Console would be released in the 2nd quarter of 2009 (if my memory serves me right).

Is there ever going to be a Remote Admin Console for SAS?

If the software is installed and configured for a user correctly then it works GREAT! Love the software. Every company has those certain people that "Never go to a bad website" but yet always get some sort of Malware (oddly enough it is usually porn related), since installing this software on the "special people" computers I have not heard from them.

I realize fighting spyware comes first (read that in another post) but please do consider putting some time in on an Admin Console for remote installs.

Thanks

We are actively working on the Centrally Managed solution for SUPERAntiSpyware. We are finalizing our 5.0 release and all of that technology is in the Enterprise version.

So over a year has past since I've posted this and you have released 5.0. Still no Central Management Console. I'm going to guess this feature will never be a part of this software and will have look for other options. It's a shame, I've been suggesting this product to all of my clients, friends and fellow IT people.

I would have thought you could have at least configured the program to Start Up for each user that logs in without me needing to open the program and configure it to Start up when windows starts under their profile. Wouldn't that feature make sense from a security point for the software? I mean if I log in as another person, SAS doesn't start up, then the computer contracts spyware/malware because SAS isn't running, then you have an infected computer that HAS SAS installed.

Of course this would not be an issue if there was a Centrally Managed Admin Console feature that has now been promised for over 2 years.

An "enterprise" version to hold all that extra code and resource needs sounds like a great idea to me, and no doubt to all the single and small business users. No offense jeffdean13, but if your company has 100+ machines you need to look for enterprise solutions. Us smaller users do not want to 1. pay the cost for what you need, or 2. use the overhead that need will demand

That's why there are different levels and PRICES for software for business versus personal/small business (1-3 computers). If you want that kind of capability and can't wait, then go pay the prices at Computer Associates or Symantec, rather than demand that we all subsidize your company's needs.

No offense taken. However, you should read my post. SAS stated to me over 2 years ago that they would be adding a Centrally Managed Console, I purchased 100 license based on that statement. Just because they come out with a console does not mean that it will affect the price of an individual purchase. What they would do is come out with a price plan specifically tailored for those who want to have a CMC.

I think you need to put some thought into your posts prior to posting. No offense.
